a couple of weeks have past since the last post, work gets all busy this time of year but a few games snuck in during this time the games i got to play which were mainly with the AOPL have been good always fun and competitive,i like that in a game, thursday nights seem to have been the only night lately to get a game in so my goal of trying to get a minimum of 70 games with them for the year isn't looking good but i have 55 games up so might get 15 more in before year end.

only a couple of days til the final table to the wsop is on was cheering phil ivey from the get go but with the chip stacks the way they are could be a big ask for him,darvin moon or eric buchman might be a better pick but i'll still be cheering ivey.

i have a rough schedule worked out for what games i might be able to fit in around everything for the month i think it's mostly going to be sit n goes and ring games that won't take up much time hopefully at least 6 AOPL tourneys as well.

i have been thinking about this blog and think i have pigeon holed myself with just poker and forgetting the bets every now and again so think i might just add random things outside of the two from time to time but that's for next blog post.

i have 2 bets for the weekend in the EPL- blackburn @2.00 and a multi bet of man city into arsenal @1.77
short odds but only 2 i have had a look at fully yet .

well now i'm just going to sit back and relax and listen to the rain that's finally arrived as long as the hail doesn't hit us like it did around the place the other night think we might be in the safe spot from all the damage it seems to go around us most times.

have spent the last 3 weeks either sick or working so never felt up to posting any blogs got back into playing a couple of double up games and AOPL tournaments but not much else so october hasn't been real good to me, stayed away from any games today spent it with the family instead trying to find a balance between family, work, poker and friends poker gets sacrificed the majority of the time but the other 3 are more important then playing all the time.

starting to go back to some APL games every now and again at the rsl went back last week for the first for awhile and nothing really changed surprises me how people crack up over a free game of poker when they lose and the sunglasses everyone wears, why? , will never get that.

ended up spending the day out of the house and away from the computer screens for once and now feel so much fresher for it no tv today either got to be a record for us a recharge after a crappy 3 weeks is what was on order now to see if it's made a difference when i go back to play ,these last few months have been bad with poker, started the year off playing a heap of games and things just kept coming up and they drizzled off a bit, have kept away from ring games and mainly play double up sit n goes now see if i can slowly build a bank roll up here's hoping.

well it's almost time for the november 9 to come out and after so many months with the players waiting i have to go with phil ivey winning it no other reason then i think his got to be the best one sitting at that table come final time.

well back to the tables i go with some good hands my way well that's the plan anyway,

limited poker and finals betting

hey all back again only the one game played with the AOPL this week and no others til later today did a couple of nights at work and working on my bets so poker kind of took a back seat for awhile,so it's only a nice quick blog today,
what about that dust storm that came over us the other day up from sydney to up here in Queensland sheesh and as i sit here looking out the window i can see another one coming into town now.
anyway as the wind picks up here i'm gonna jump back on a couple of tables later this arvo and get back into it.

finals time in the football too (both codes) so that kind of got me away from the tables aswell will be taking a bet in the NRL grand final but AFL it is for now, don't really follow the AFL games can't really get into it and have basically no idea of the teams but looking at their stats i think it will be close and have gone with "Either Team Under 24.5 Points" @ 1.74 for my bet while in the english soccer i've taken a multi bet of man u/man city/liverpool @2.29
and races today i have race 6 in mornington horse 8 red buttons and race 7 in doomben horse 6 bazzooka.
hopefully i do better then last weeks picks having gotten 2 from 4.

seems to be the way of late, cold bit of chicken or pizza and sit up play poker mainly been doing some freerolls and not buy ins this week if i'm at a table with players i've played before i find myself calling some hands i normally wouldn't just to see if they have the hand or not bad habit i know but i've gotten a glimpse of how they play or if they play a little different cause it's a freeroll game it started unintentionally but it turned into a learning tool or sorts (probably not a good one though)

loving the AOPL thursday night games now being different games instead of 'hold em' all the time kind of get a bit bored after awhile doing the same game constantly i needed that bit of mix up and it gave me an extra game to play with them since i work some nights .

well not much more besides work and annoying the family has been happening went to a fun BBQ last weekend with some friends i haven't seen in a bit don't get to hang out with everyone as much as i use too anymore so catching up is always fun,
oh a big congrats to my friend graham and mellissa on the arrival of their new baby boy the other morning too.

i have started the bets back up now getting a couple going again stopped for awhile there i seemed to be not following my own strategy using my head and not my heart this time and it seems to be working a bit better for me.
so i'm going to write them up from time to time so you can follow whether i win or lose, fly or nose dive with my picks wish me luck.

for this month i'm going to improve my focus on poker mainly with myself to start and the cards will follow (at least i hope so)

i've gone with a laugh it off policy whenever a bad beat hits i've noticed when i do my vibe still stays the same and i can go back to concentrating on the game and not go on tilt like i would if i let it get to me.
a second thing i'm trying to do is walk away from the game when i'm tired this seems hard for me as i want to play more then i need to sleep and i always play bad when i do,so learning to drag myself away and not sign up for a game when i get like that.
and lastly if i have things on my mind or distractions i'm doing the same and just not play.

it all seems to be working so far i can feel my game improving slightly a few hiccups here and there but overall an improvement.

recently the universal pub where we played some of our APL games at went and burnt down so another venue was needed but luckily another was quickly found (had 8 others to choice from though) but the uni always seemed the friendliest even had a few back room games going on there for a while they were fun, it's going to be missed by the poker players in town here for sure.

not much for me to talk about this week played a couple of AOPL games hold em one night and 2-7 3 draw which i'm beginning to get into, finding it more of a challenge for me to play and try and work others out really enjoyed it am happy to see another one is scheduled for this week .

ended up at the local horse races this weekend had a quiet day as no one else wanted to come along started off a bit ordinary with the first 4 picks slipping back to 4th or worse each time but it picked up with the next 4 coming home ended in ffront for the day so that ended my day on a good note.

i've stayed away from the ring games this month mainly cause i keep getting chased down to the river with good hands only to lose on a suck out but that's the risk with playing limit i guess.

wasting time a good lot this month it seems more then playing any poker but that seems the norm lately have been waiting for quotes to come in to start getting some fix it jobs done around the house gonna have to go chase them up i think haven't heard anything back yet so maybe.

well the bets didn't go to plan today to be honest they sucked lol a couple of games still going but not looking good i did the rush picks today but no excuses but did get 2 from 5 with the horses but only one paid so have to chalk the day up to a loss.

well up early this morning to get some bets ready for the day played a few games the last couple of days played a 5 card draw which i haven't played in ages and went to the APL game last night at the uni which i should have skipped i just couldn't seem to chase away the chasers when i raised and they kept catching which sucks but i was given a warning about playing there by others so my own fault for going but it really doesn't matter was only a pub league game but still annoying none the less.

i've signed up to play another online forum challenge this weekend over on fulltilt representing the Australian online poker league (AOPL)

well the ANZPT has finished it's first tour in Queensland would of been nice to be able to play but one i never qualified online and 2 i don't have the money to do so and 3 i never tried to qualify and didn't have the time either lol , but yeah would of been nice.

a new beginning

hey all i'm back again managed a few games in the week but has been a busy few months out in the real world gotten ourselves a new car and going to start a bit of fix it jobs around the house but mostly it's settled down now so i've played a few tournaments and no ring games this time, played omaha game with the AOPL for the first time in a long time spent most of the game just waiting and watching other players til i got a feel for it ended up 3rd getting 2 euro not much but the games with the league ain't about the money more to meet other players and to try to get better.

went to the local rsl on sunday for an APL game http://www.playapl.com/for the first time since February was nice to see some familiar faces and catching up with them had fun i've missed playing a live game for awhile now since the money games are no longer as regular as before might have to start a regular home game i think.
getting back into the betting now seem to be making better decisions with the poker and bets now i have gotten my head cleared i've also started to keep better records for my bankroll to keep track of my progress ,
it's taken awhile but everything has fallen into place to where it all feels comfortable and more workable with planning out the games and not jumping on to what ever tournament was on at the time.
so that's me for now going to try my hand at some double or nothing sit n goes later this week and some LHE ring games as well as a few AOPL games i also think i have an online forum challenge game this coming weekend .

just a quick update first for the week a new month and a fresh start to begin all again i have a plan this time around to continue being more organised have my games all planned for august well some of them anyway but planned none the less and i plan not to lose track of my bankroll even though i play low buy ins it all adds up starting from the ground floor and plan to build up (hopefully) going to use a 5% rule (was going to be 10% but my current bankroll isn't that impressive yet so starting small) playing a mix of sit n goes and tournaments on some rooms and ring games on others ,mostly been playing the double up sit n goes at the moment quite enjoy these always seem to be fun tables.
the other games will be a few tournaments with the Australian online poker league when i get the chance to play with them to round out the month. so that's my goal for august chase some coin and some points as well as placing a few bets here and there , if i had more time i'd play more but things have to be done away from this screen apparently lol a cranky wife is never good lol.

it's taken awhile but i've finally got myself organised at last ,it's taken some time but i now have no more outside distractions for when i'm at the table ,i have spent the last month sorting stuff out with the bank to get a loan they had me chasing up forms from ages ago i had to hunt down and having my mind on other things when playing and don't feel i did my best ,but now the running around has worked out so here on in i'm going to have my game in order.

so with the running about my goals for july never fully worked out for me i did manage a few sit and go games and some tournaments with the AOPL.

spent the last couple of days sick and couldn't sleep so i was wide awake for close to 24 hours so online poker was the cure sat and played some of the 10cent sit and go's on pkr for awhile to try and get sleepy but that didn't work but did manage to come 2nd a couple of times lol.

so with my head now cleared my plan from here on in is the k.i.s.s methord (keep it simple stupid) manage my bankroll better and stay away from the table when other things are taking away my attention so if i follow that everything should work out for me.

so after a few jobs today i'll get back to the tables .going to play some sit and goes to end the afternoon and a couple of bets as well sounds good for the day.

haven't gotten to the tables much this week well not at all to tell the truth i've had a late night every night this week and just been to tired to play,i had planned to play in the online forum challenge but for some reason i couldn't register to a table so i missed out on playing, i've got myself set for july going to set my goals to play a few tournaments and sit n goes for the month on a regular bases when i can (unless work jumps in the road again) my goals for the upcoming month is to play at least one tournament a week (not counting AOPL games) and at least 2 sit n goes ,only small goals but they're a start til i have more time.

having a much better week with the poker came 2nd twice in a couple of sit n goes and also re downloaded a couple of sites that i'm giving another go with and found i still had a little bit of money in one so that was a nice surprise, that's a win right there isn't it? i'll treat it like that anyway lol.
over at AOPL a new gold members group has been started and i was lucky enough to be made a member not sure what will be bonus so far except that the members are confirmed aussie players but looking forward as it develops .

well i'm back again sorry about the lack of updates i'll try to update a bit more dirung the week get a little busy sometimes.
no longer house hunting or selling going to stay where i am so now i just have to clear my head and play some poker.
i have learnt the hardway to not sit down without a clear head to play poker this week,sat down a couple of small limit games just 5c/10c to kill a little time, i couldn't seem to do any good at these no matter what i raised or bet it was called and chased and killed on the river everytime, i let frustration get the best of me and lost my stack it seemed if i slow played i lost if i raised i lost,lucky it was only $3 but still,ended up playing a freeroll on pokerhost after but ended up getting visitors in the middle of the game which distracted me from the table so wasn't really concentrating on what i was doing but finished 168th from 750 players top 110 got some money so i don't think that was so bad after the distractions and all.
and finally the third game was friday night with the end of month game with the AOPL had trouble from the start of this the room refused to open up and when it did something like 20 minutes had past and about 20 minutes after that my poket kings get killed by quad 4's (they had pocket 4's) so i guess it wasn't to be,not really a great week for poker but a little time to clear my head i'll be back at the tables.
so in a little bit i'll be back to grinding it out and working on my flaws and i'll see where that takes me.

but today i'm going to sit back and listen to the rain and just relax .

finally did it

turn out the lights and pack up camp i've finally got my first win with the AOPL it's taking me 3 years to do so so it's a huge relief to get one,2nd was always the best i can do so i was over the moon with the result.

only the one game played this week with the AOPL and i shouldn't of played that, too tired to play and i still signed up (how's that for loyalty...or stupidity?) anyway my ace ten ran into pocket aces and i lasted all of 6 minutes for the night not good at all,

still looking at houses at the moment so that's taking up some of my time will be putting the house up for sale soon,

never did any good the other weekend at the races everything seemed to come 4th at best but maybe a better weekend this time around,

it ended up being not so much of a bad night found myself at the final table short staked of course ,seems to be my thing , but i grinded my way to 5th spot from 41 players so i was laughing at that,think i frustrated a few players trying to bust me,it also ened up being a bounty game but i only managed to get one bounty for the night so i was out of trying to win a prize with that.

ended up having to re download most of my poker rooms last night seems that most have had an upgrade or changed software ,took me ages to get doylesroom to work for me but it's all good now,always seem to find myself at that room when i'm online.

i'm off to the local races today hoping for a bit of luck to follow me ,it's the picnic race day here in town so it's gonna be good always a packed day ,country carnivals are always fun to check out,i have a fw selected for the day so wish me luck .

Expekt 'The Prince' at the Tables

One of the most recognizable poker names not affiliated with an online poker room ended that status this week. Scotty Nguyen, the "Prince of Poker," signed a deal with Expekt Poker and becomes the site's new poker ambassador, effective today. Nguyen will represent the online room at this summer's World Series of Poker, among other events.

well my plan to play the AOPL end of month game and the warwick open ended up a flop never got to play either one ,the end of month game got cancelled and postponed and i ended up having to work that nightbut congrats to ausgamer07 for winning and with the open game my sister in law had a party scheduled for the same night and with no baby sitter i stayed home ended up being too tired to even play online so no games got played but that's all good i'll get back into it soon.

i've had a little trouble sometimes withdrawing or depositing money from some rooms but i stumbled across this ewallet that looks good https://www.picclub.com/ and it also goes hand in hand with bluffmagazine bluff poker tour so i might look into this.

most of my time this week has been wasted on twitter i'll use it now when i'm at the tables some people follow along but mainly so i can go back later and keep a review of how i play for self analyzing so hopefully it helps in the end to make me a better player.

haven't been following any live tournaments online but it's only about 2 weeks til the WSOP kicks off so i'll start following then.

It wasn't so long ago that i questioned my game everything seemed off and nothing seemed to go right for me so i cut back on the amount of games i played got rid of a bunch of rooms i hardly went to and basically cleared the clutter and went back to basics and started again from square one , i went back and read and reread books and any lessons i came across and took the best bits from each one and mixed everything when i went back to the table it seems to have worked as i now feel a lot better with myself when i play and it's come at the right time too, firstly i made it to my first end of month final with the Australian online poker league in quite some time but i put the infrequent appearances from only playing once a week with them most times (trying to play more when i can)
and up coming on the 9th of may is the APL Warwick open for 2009 , i know it's only a free pub league thing but it still ends up a long day it starts out with a 4 round shoot out for qualifying points then the top 72 go to the main game with the final 3 receiving prizes

i haven't updated this blog for a little over a week i think but i have managed to squeeze in at least 3 games in that time 2 with the AOPL and one with the local pub league,

Australian Online Poker League - Free Online Poker League for Australians to compete against each other.

think i might cut down on the local pub ones i like playing there and catching up with friends but the tournament directors are inconsistent with their rulings on some things like swearing and players behavior etc, one night they might give a 15 minute penalty to someone swearing the next they just let it go,it gets annoying when every table you get sat down at the drunks argue and swear and just carry on and no penalty gets given out but then someone else lets slip the dreaded f bomb over these players actions it's an instant penalty,so with the extra games that have started up in town now (there's about 6 or 7 games a week now) i've got a few to choice from for just a muck about game.

well april was meant to be the month where i got my games organized but it hasn't quite worked out that way for me so far ,it's improved but not how i wanted, things kept popping up that had to come first but now i have the most of it under conttrol now it's time to start getting some tournaments set up to play.

i almost forgot that the WPT world championship was on it started on the 18th so i've caught the game from the final 62 with the top 50 getting paid so i think i've timed it good to catch the action,the WPT never gets as many players in it's championship as the WSOP does (with the WSOP having some 6000 plus people entering and the WPT 337 ) but i think that makes for a better game as i think the fewer the players the less luck is involved and it comes down to skill the majority of time,

random rambling

i tell you i swear my 2 year old knows what he's doing when i'm playing poker the other night he was climbing up on me going under my chair jumping up and down and around me and passing toys to me as i was trying to play meaning i didn't pay attention and lost the majority of my money as soon as that happened he walked off, i still think he had a grin on his face sniggering as he went away.

as part of my simplifying things i ended up getting rid of some more poker rooms from my computer which means i am down to 10 and am done i have the ones i want and that's it for me, i kept getting offers and promos sent to me but now no more it started to get too much,now i can just concentrate on these 10 which i think is plenty for me to jump from tournament to ring games and keep my interest.

i played an APL game the other night my first in ages a lot of changers since i last played new director and an extra 3 games on a week taking it to 8 a week now i think , i'm spoilt for choice,not to fond of free pub league poker tho but it's still a fun night to meet up with friends,found i wasn't the only one to think it lets bad habits slip into your game had 2 other players tell me the same thing when i was there ,was thinking i might of been the only one to think so.

i still find myself playing around with twitter while in between hands of poker i'm addicted i think so if your on twitter look me up davo_77 and follow along and say g'day , every now and than i'll post up a few hands from the game i'm in.
haven't had a sports bet for awhile been sticking to the horses they seem to be treating me better of late.

might start playing a few hands in some h.o.r.s.e later on i'm finding it helping in other games besides hold em in which i'm not all that good at still trying to improve my Omaha, razz was a surprise liked it more than i thought i would.

hey all back again finally april and that means some more games i get to play with the AOPL with the new room (red kings) hosting our games if all goes well,i might get a chance to play a couple of extra games as well later on i manage to make the final table in my last 3 games i think it was so i might now be able to do a couple of buy ins if time allows.(here's hoping).

i'm trying to break the hoodoo that seems to be following me with live games mainly APL everytime lately something either pops up or happens and i don't make the game,it's been about a month or so now since i've made it to a game, last time it was the car think i'll walk to the game tonight.
